How it works

How to add a signature to a PDF

Upload the PDF, create a signature or initials (draw, type, or upload), place the mark on the page, and download. No account. Everything runs in your browser.

  1. Upload your PDF

Pick the file you want to sign. It stays in your browser and is not sent to SignPaperless.

  2. Add a signature or initials

Draw or type a full signature, or switch to Initials for letter marks like JD. You can also upload an image. For a signature, you can add an optional name or date underneath.

  3. Place it on the page

Choose the page, drag the mark into place, and adjust the size. Use the presets for a quick bottom or corner placement. Undo last move puts the stamp back without clearing what you drew.

  4. Download the PDF

Save the file to your device. The original text and layout stay as they were. Only the signature image is added.

Benefits

Why people use this PDF signature tool

You already have the PDF and just need your mark on it. No desktop app to install, and no new account to create.

  • No account needed

Open the page, sign the file, and download. Handy when you just need a mark on a PDF today.

  • Stays on your device

The PDF and signature are processed in your browser. We do not receive the document when you use this free tool.

  • Draw, type, or upload

Sign with a mouse or finger, type a name or initials in a script font, or use a signature image you already have.

  • Keeps the PDF usable

We stamp the image onto the existing file. Text stays selectable and the rest of the document is unchanged.

  • Signature or initials

Use a full signature for the signing line, or initials (like JD) when a form asks for a smaller mark on the page.

  • Simple placement

Drag to move, resize with the slider, undo the last move, or jump to bottom and corner presets.

Yes. We stamp the signature image onto the existing PDF. The document is not flattened into page images.

Draw it, type a name or initials in a script font, or upload a PNG or JPG. Transparent PNGs usually look cleanest on the page.

Yes. Initials mode is for letter marks like JD, not a smaller copy of your full signature. Type them (or draw/upload), then place with the corner presets.

For a full signature, name and date are optional. Whatever you type is drawn under the stamp on the downloaded PDF. Those fields are hidden in initials mode.

This free tool places one stamp on one page per download. Open the downloaded file again if you need the same mark on another page, or use SignPaperless when several people need to sign.

Not by itself. This adds a visual mark to a PDF. A full eSign flow usually also records who signed, when they signed, and how the document was handled. Use SignPaperless when you need that.

Encrypted PDFs often cannot be edited in the browser without the password. Unlock or export an unprotected copy first, then try again.
